Pakistan’s automobile market is entering another important phase as Sazgar Engineering Works Limited (SAZEW) moves to introduce ARCFOX New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) in the country. ARCFOX is the high-end intelligent electric vehicle brand of China’s BAIC Group, and Sazgar’s move will further expand its growing new-energy vehicle portfolio in Pakistan.
Sazgar officially disclosed its intention to introduce ARCFOX in a filing to the Pakistan Stock Exchange on September 25. The company describes ARCFOX as a premium technology-focused brand, with engineering and technology collaborations involving companies including Magna and Huawei.
Two vehicles currently attracting the most attention are the ARCFOX T1 EV and ARCFOX T5 REEV. According to PakWheels, Sazgar management confirmed that samples of these two vehicles were expected to arrive in Pakistan after a shipment delay. However, official prices, booking dates and a confirmed retail launch date have not yet been announced.
The T1 is a compact fully electric vehicle designed around everyday electric mobility. Reported specifications include LFP battery options of 33.4 kWh and 42.3 kWh, with claimed CLTC driving ranges between 320 km and 425 km depending on the version.
The T5 REEV takes a different approach. It is a mid-size SUV using a 1.5-litre petrol engine as a range extender, while the electric motor drives the vehicle. Reported specifications include 200 kW of peak power, 360 Nm of torque, a claimed 215 km electric CLTC range and a claimed combined range of up to 1,215 km. These are overseas/test-cycle figures, so real-world Pakistani performance may differ.
For Pakistan, ARCFOX’s arrival could mean greater competition in the fast-growing EV and hybrid market. More brands can give buyers greater choice while pushing automakers to compete on technology, features, pricing and after-sales support.
But the real test will come after launch. Pakistani buyers will want to know the local price, battery warranty, spare-parts availability, charging support, service network and resale value before making a decision.
Sazgar has also indicated that whether ARCFOX vehicles eventually come through CKD local assembly or CBU imports will depend on Pakistan’s new auto policy. The company has separately announced a major expansion programme, showing that it is preparing for a larger role in Pakistan’s changing automobile market.
ARCFOX therefore represents more than just another new car brand. It is another sign that Pakistan’s auto industry is slowly moving beyond traditional petrol vehicles toward electric, hybrid and range-extended mobility.
The next big questions are now simple: How much will ARCFOX cost in Pakistan, and will Pakistani buyers be ready to make the switch?
