Pakistan Increases National Savings Profit Rates: New Returns Announced From October 21

The Government of Pakistan has announced higher profit rates on several National Savings schemes, bringing an important update for eligible investors, pensioners and families.

The revised rates came into effect on October 21, 2026.

What Are the New Profit Rates?

According to the Central Directorate of National Savings, the annual profit rate on Behbood Savings Certificates, Pensioners’ Benefit Accounts and Shuhada Family Welfare Accounts has increased from 12.72% to 12.96%.

The profit rate on Regular Income Certificates has also increased from 11.76% to 12.12%.

Meanwhile, rates on several other savings products, including Special Savings Certificates and Sharia-compliant schemes, have also been revised.

The ordinary Savings Account rate remains unchanged at 10%.

How Much Difference Will It Make?

Under the revised 12.96% rate, an investment of Rs100,000 in an eligible scheme would produce Rs1,080 in monthly profit before applicable deductions.

Previously, the monthly amount was Rs1,060.

Although the increase may appear small, it is relevant for people who depend on regular income from savings products.

Important Points for Investors

Different schemes have different eligibility requirements, maturity periods and payment methods.

Taxes and other applicable deductions can also affect the final amount received.

Therefore, customers should check the latest official National Savings schedule before making financial decisions.

The latest change raises a bigger question: Are higher savings returns enough to help Pakistani households manage rising living costs?
