Karachi Fake Job Fair Scam: 51 Women Robbed of Mobile Phones at Gadap Farmhouse

A supposed job opportunity turned into a disturbing experience for dozens of women in Karachi after they were taken to a farmhouse in Gadap, where their mobile phones were allegedly collected and taken away.

According to police, the Karachi fake job fair incident involved a large number of women who arrived at the farmhouse in two buses after being told they were attending a job-related event.

Dawn reported that mobile phones belonging to 51 women were taken during the incident.

Phones Collected Before Organiser Disappeared

According to Gadap City police, the organisers told the women that mobile phone recording was not allowed during the interviews. They were asked to hand over their devices, reportedly on the pretext of keeping the process fair.

After collecting the phones, an organiser allegedly left the farmhouse with them.

Other reports citing an affected woman said participants had been offered work connected to an event, along with food, training and payment. Some women reportedly received receipts or labels when their phones were collected.

What appeared to be a normal employment opportunity soon became an alleged Karachi job scam.

Police Investigation Underway

The incident was reported to police after the women realised their phones were missing.

Dawn reported that, at the time of its initial report, police were investigating and no arrest had yet been made. Later FIR-based reports said two people had been detained or arrested for questioning while police searched for the main suspect.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah also took notice of the case and ordered authorities to arrest those responsible.

Fake Job Offers Raise Serious Concerns

The Gadap fake job fair case highlights a wider risk for people searching for employment through informal contacts, WhatsApp groups and social media.

Job seekers should verify the company or organiser before travelling to an unfamiliar location and should be cautious when asked to surrender phones, original identity documents or other valuables.

The case of 51 women robbed Karachi is now among the notable Karachi crime news today, not only because of the number of victims but because an apparent employment opportunity was allegedly used to gain their trust.

Police investigations are continuing, and further details may clarify the exact number of victims and the roles of those involved.
